Jose L Piedra was a very popular brand in the US prior to the embargo. The brand was resurrected in 1996 and has since found a following again. The tobacco for the Jose L Piedra cigars is grown in the Remedios region of Cuba. These strong cigars offer raw tobacco flavors and definitely need time to reach their best.
My experience with Piedra cigars in general, & especially with these small ring smokes is somewhat of a hit or miss experience. Because they are low cost short filler cigars some are exceptionally good & a few are not so hot. When I get one that does not draw or "canoes" I accept that this can happen, that is why they cost so little. Most of the time they are good smooth satisfying cigars & I appreciate that a Real Cuban Tobacco cigar can be had for a bargain price. I choose these over any non Cuban bundle cigar because they taste Way Better. The occasional clunker is part of the deal. Piedras will always appeal to me
